Meet our Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Ankush Chandra, MD, MS:
Dr. Chandra is a PGY-5 Neurosurgery resident at the The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) with deep passion for neurosurgical oncology. He has received numerous prestigious research grants and awards, including those from the AANS/NREF, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Alpha Omega Alpha Society. Currently, Dr. Chandra is an NIH R25/UE5 grant recipient conducting research in Dr. Hui-Wen Lo, Ph.D.‘s laboratory at UT Houston, investigating mechanisms of CDK4/6 inhibitor resistance in glioblastoma (GBM) and developing novel combination therapies. As an aspiring neurosurgeon-scientist, Dr. Chandra’s research interests center around understanding the tumor microenvironment to identify innovative therapeutic targets and overcome treatment resistance mechanisms. His ultimate goal is to translate these discoveries into clinical practice, enhancing patient outcomes and improving prognosis and quality of life for individuals diagnosed with GBM. He has extensive experience mentoring undergraduates, medical students and residents and hopes to utilize his experience in developing a strong academic and mentorship platform at MSM.
